Vlierhof Pasen Retraite – Spiritualiteit in de praktijk – 14 / 17 april

  • Wil je gaan vertragen?

  • Wil je spiritualiteit samen met anderen beoefenen?

  • Wil je delen en leren…?

  • Wil je contact maken met de natuur?

    The eye of the hurricane.

Traditional Archery – Martijn

For over 70,000 years, the Bow has been wielded by gods and humans alike. It is a tool of survival, war and personal and spiritual life and power. The bow has been seen as a symbol of fate, authority and truth. Together with the goal orientated focus, archery invokes a masculine energy in both men and women. This hands-on workshop will introduce the basic principles of traditional archery and the ways in which those principles can be used to build a powerful and fulfilling life.

We start by connecting with the bow and share how you relate to it in your life. Then, with bow and arrow in hand, you will take the first steps toward mastering the Art of Traditional Instinctive Archery. After making contact with the energy of the bow we will practice instinctive archery. The core of instinctive archery is training your body to shoot accurately without aiming. Variations of instinctive shooting date back to the earliest use of archery by humans.

Mantra singing, morning practice – Martijn

By chanting mantras you get positive energy and inner peace. You can make contact with the love within you and around you. It’s an easy way to meditate because you’re carried by the force of the words that are being sung. While singing you can dissolve blockages, and you may feel liberated. It gives inner strength, so you can go easily with everyday life. Everyone is welcome, you do not have a good singing voice or have singing experience.

Women’s circle – Katrien

„When we heal ourselves, others are healed. When we nurture our dreams, we give birth to the dreams of humankind. When we walk as loving aspects of the Earth Mother, we become the fertile, life-giving Mothers of the Creative Force.“ (Jami Sams from her book „The Thirteen Original Clan Mothers“)

A women’s circle is a sacred space for women to connect and tap into collective and ancient female wisdom. It is a place of inspiration, creativity and strength. In joining in this way, we hold space for and empower women everywhere. The much-needed transformation and healing of the earth comes when we fully embrace our power and creativity as women and set the intention to boldly take our life-force into the world. Feeling the collective strength of the women in a women’s gathering gives us a space from which we can feel connected to each other in love and compassion and the courage to live our inherent feminine wisdom. Gathering and sharing as sisters joins us in a web of support.

Men’s circle – Martijn

In this circle of men we will dive into the masculine polarity. We are not going to give any answers, but we invite you to define and express your own masculinity. You are welcome to share insights, experiences, feelings and emotions in connection with other men. It’s about co-creating a space where we can open ourselves to each other without the fear of ridicule or judgement by creating brotherhood.

Integration: Men and women coming together – Katrien & Martijn

When the men and women have really felt there own energy, we will connect these two energies, in a joint ritual of song and connection. We will end the day with a talking stick circle to share our experiences of the masculine/feminine and the integration of the two.

Mindful Spoon Carving – Martijn

Spoon Carving is a beautiful collaboration of your mind, body, creativity and nature. In this short workshop you will learn and practice the procedures of transforming a piece of solid wood to a spoon. We focus on carving techniques that will allow you to carve safely with confidence so you can create at home too.Slow down and be mindful of every cut, while the wood will act as your mirror. When you use spoon carving as a mindfulness practice, focus becomes a matter of presence, thoughts make place for inspiration and expectations will transform to flow. Everyone is welcome, no previous woodworking experience is necessary.

Conscious Communication – Martijn & Katrien

Conscious communication has grown out of a collaborative practice group offered at the Vlierhof by Martijn and Katrien and is based on their experience and training in Non-Violent Communication, Circling and other forms of sharing. The practice highlights the process of tuning into habitual patterns of communication and relating and seeing their effects on interpersonal relations. The focus will be on experiential exercises around empathic giving and receiving, distinguishing observations from interpretations, tuning into feelings and thoughts and experiencing how deep listening and clear communication can change the way we relate to each other. Circling stands at the end of each session as a way of bringing together all the learnings in a process of group communication.

Insight Dialogue – Jeroen Clemens

Interpersonal mindfulness is an interpersonal meditation practice. It brings the mindfulness and tranquility of individual practice directly into our actual, in the moment, experience with other people. Interpersonal Mindfulness is based on the buddhist practice of Insight Dialogue, which draws from traditional Buddhist wisdom, but it is not a Buddhist practice in the religious sense. In Interpersonal Mindfulness we come face-to-face with core human experiences.

We experience different forms of interpersonal stress or suffering on a daily basis by separation from people you love, being with people who irritate you, unsatisfied longings. It makes up for an important aspect of all suffering or stress. The hungers for pleasure in relationships, to be seen or admired by others, and to hide or escape—these are all causes of suffering we experience in some form or another in our daily lives, which then are sustained by confusion and habit.

Release from interpersonal suffering is possible. We can gain insight and practice letting go of interpersonal entanglements in the same way we got entangled—interpersonally. Interpersonal Mindfulness provides a way to do that: an interpersonal form of practice.

Karma Yoga – Work as Meditation – Spring Easter Retreat Team

Some of you may have been conditioned to believe that meditation is when you are sitting on a cushion in a particular posture and it is true it can be, and there is a energetic “science” behind these postures, but meditation is not limited to those rare occasions. Every gesture or action can become meditative when you direct your attention to the present moment. The 5 senses are our doorways to the present moment. Witnessing your body from inside, witnessing your feelings and thoughts while performing an action, whatever action, keeps you in the flow of the present moment. Anchoring consciousness in the present moment through action can even be easier. We will among other sources draw on Zen and Gurdjieff’s fourth way.

Obstacles to this practice can occur and we teach you  orthodox and unorthodox ways or remind you of ways to deal with these obstacles in order to stay in the present moment. We ask you to use this opportunity to practice work as meditation with the community so that you can make your whole day into a meditation. Our intention is to create a meditative work environment.

Sacred Movements

These movements originate from among other places Tibet, Turkestan, and Afghanistan. G.I. Gurdjieff travelled these lands in search of truth in the early 1900, learned the dances, and brought them to Europe and the USA.

These dances contain both teachings in and of themselves, and a means to harmonize three of our centers. The emotional through music and rhythm, the mental through counting and speech, and the physical through precise movements. They are designed to de-automatize our movements, by challenging us to master our body, mind, and heart by developing and harnessing a higher force.

Trāṭaka – Flame Gazing – Vigyana Bhavani Tantra Technique

This is a simple meditation that is said to have been given by Shiva himself to stimulate the third eye and to bring a heightened sense of presence. You can read why in the article at the bottom. Through this technique you’ll be able to still the mind. We will experiment with different forms of gazing and notice what effect these experiments have on our perception and inner landscape. You only truly know how to navigate with your vehicle when you know how it works.

You can read more in this thorough article.
