Our roof is in a poor condition and is in danger of collapsing. We want Vlierhof to be a safe place and at the same time prepare for a sustainable future with solar panels. To make this happen a complete roof renovation of 225.000 euros is needed.

Why your help is important
The roof of the Deel has been a cause for concern for years. After storm damage and aging rain sometimes comes through the roof, and the wooden support beams are beginning to rot. This creates a dangerous situation for residents and visitors. A collapse would mean that many residents would become homeless and our operations would have to cease, as our kitchen is also located in the Deel. We have often made emergency repairs but it is really time for a more rigorous intervention. We need to address this now!
OUR PLAN
We are going to renovate the roof and that is quite an operation in itself. The roof has an area of more than 520 m2. All the roof battens, support beams and 5000 tiles will be replaced. Windows will also be patched. At the same time, we want to make it more sustainable. We have already made a start on this by replacing the central heating system last year with a more sustainable system. We are also going to install 50 solar panels and make our electricity grid suitable for that. That is a very big step towards being more self-sufficient.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
The entire renovation will cost a total of €225,000.
Vlierhof can pay €125,000 of this itself.
For the remaining €100,000 we are asking for your support.

MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE BUILDINGS
The community includes 3 former farm buildings. These are more than 80 years old. Much has been addressed, renovated and remodeled over the past 20 years. In which as much as possible of the exterior has been left intact. Only the Deel not yet. There were other necessary priorities, such as replacing the central heating system, paying off the mortgage and many other investments to get the Vlierhof healthy.
The Deel is under the same roof as the residential part of the Farmhouse. The Deel is currently used as storage. Among other things, for food and our stock. It also contains our kitchen, gym and secondhand store. It is directly adjacent to our seminar house and we walk through it daily to provide food for the retreat centre groups.
